Ya i'm have same prob with Nero 7 too.It Almosty gets done the Install then I get a pop-up box sayin I have to Close explorer for Install to finish.So I do that then I get an error msg sayin that it couldn't Register some com file then it tells me to try Install again. So I try again it does same thing so I try todo a repair & that hangs too. So eventually I gave up & tried to remove it from my Program List & Lo&Behold it won't do that either.I'm gettin very UPSET.cause ALL my other apps work in Compat mode 'Cept for Nero it just bein a BIG A-hole. After telling everyone I found a way to make Nero 7 work with Vista, I come to determine that everything works except for the actual scanning interface. There is no doubt that using the Nero website installation does get it up and running (at least it did for me), but during the installation, the 'hbqscnvw.exe' file (that enables the scanning device to fuction) gets lost.

They said NOT to use the Nero 7 disk to uninstall. After the computer restarts, you have to shut off all firewalls, and antivirus programs to reinstall. Hope it works for you all! I get exactly the same error, except Crash Thread ID 5088, Current Thread ID 3660. I downloaded the update, 7.10.1.0 update to Nero 7 'Enhanced' from the site, which claims this update is Vista compatible. But it won't install under Vista. I installed Nero 7 from the original disk under XP Pro OK, and also applied this 7.10.1.0 update under XP OK (I'm in dual boot, two drive configuration -- found out after I bought that Vista Premium won't update XP Pro, so have to do a clean install or throw it away!). I've tried every trick I know -- running compatibility mode in Vista, etc. Always fails at the same point, same error, when it's almost done.

I even tried starting over, by using TuneUp to wipe out all the registry entries, after deleting the files Nero installed, but it didn't make any difference -- still fails the same point.
