Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: The Yamaha Gigmaker Guitar Pack was my introduction to guitar.
I got this kit three years ago and it is still holding up despite my vigorous playing. This acoustic can stand up to damage and is absolutely the best value. The accessories are not very good quality but again, this is a beginner pack.
The tuner is not a chromatic tuner and the strap and picks are of poor quality. After a year I needed to buy a tuner, a strap, and some picks, but it didn't bother me that much. I would take this guitar over any other beginner acoustic such as a Fender or an Ibanez. Also, the price cannot be beaten and this guitar is worth the money. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: I bought this Guitar Pack for my son on his 17th birthday. Neither my husband or I play, so I was very nervous trying to buy a guitar, having no knowledge of what to expect. I did as much online research as I could, and knew I wanted to buy a dependable brand.
I am very pleased with the quality of the guitar! It is beautiful, has great sound, and the instructional materials and tuner are proving invaluable!
The very first evening using the tuner and the DVD, my son was able to tune the guitar and learn 4 chords! This guitar is not a flimsy cheap thing, as many beginner guitars are, but rather a quality instrument he will be able to enjoy for years. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: It seems to me like a great bargain for a beginner guitar. I wanted to learn to play the guitar without paying a fortune. This one includes a nice acoustic guitar that is pre-strung, an electronic tuner that is easy to use, picks, spare strings, a soft case, a strap, and an introductory DVD. The case and strap are made from plastic. The case could use a pocket for the tuner, spare strings, etc.
Without instructions, putting on the strap is surprisingly difficult for a beginner. All in all, I am very satisfied with this Yamaha guitar that gives me everything I need to start lessons at a price that was much lower than I could find elsewhere. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: I bought this one month ago, to teach myself how to play guitar. I'm pleased with it overall-it is easy to tune, has a bright tone and excellent sustain, and the sound projects very well. The only additional accessory I needed was a capo, though I also bought tortoiseshell picks because they produce a warmer and richer sound than plastic ones. My only complaints are the occasional fret buzz, particularly on the lower frets, and the fact that the high-gloss finish appears to wear off the edges of the guitar quickly.
I am going to try replacing the brass strings that came with the guitar with D'Addario Bronze strings, to see if this helps reduce the fret buzz. I will eventually upgrade to a solid-top acoustic-electric (Yamaha or Ibanez), but for now, I'd say this guitar is an excellent choice. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: This guitar, though a Yamaha, and not one of the most notable brands out there, lives up to its expectations. It definitely lasts. I've been playing it for 4 years now and the only wear-and-tear is a loss of finish on the guitar and having the fret board begin to wear out. True, it may be time to upgrade but I will still hold on to this one. It is without a doubt one of the most durable guitars out there with this kind of price tag.
And if your still looking to get started with guitar, look no further than this. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: I recently bought this guitar for a bang up practicing guitar. It doesn't matter if you are and experienced player or not this guitar sounds wonderful.
The action is not too high and not too low. The only bad thing is that it isn't a solid top. If you want a solid top I recommend the Gigmaker Deluxe. The sound quality of this guitar is very nice. I also own a Martin DX1 and an Epiphone Dove and when you compare them together you can barely tell teh difference.
Even when the other guitars are hundreds more this one meets their standards. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: I bought this guitar as a beater second guitar -- the folks at GC were surprised that I was actually looking for a laminate top guitar but I want something to take camping, play outside and not have to worry about dents, etc. I have to say that I was blown away by the quality of the instrument -- clean construction, tuners work great, sound is clear. Replaced the brass strings with phosphor bronze 80/20 12s and I am not sure I hear $250 difference betweeen this and my Yamaha FG750s (which is an amazing axe). Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: Last year I picked up the guitar again after a 20 year break when my kids gave me this Gigmaker package so I could play along with them. Back in the day, I played a venerable Yamaha FG that had been passed down to me and a mid-tier Martin, so I expected this beginner package to be little more than junk, but was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the instrument. As mentioned by others, the accessories are el-cheapo, but the package cost the same as the guitar by itself, so think of the package as free strings and picks (with a backup tuner if you can't find your Korg).
Out of the box, the F325 stayed in tune and the action was good (not too high or too low), both of which can be very important for new players who don't know any better. My F325 has good tone and sustain (excellent for the price), a strong low end and middle, with the high end a bit bright (less so after changing the strings) and surprisingly-good projection for a laminated top. Other Yamaha F series guitars I have played recently at GC had similar qualities, so it appears that Yamaha is maintaining good QC. The overall playability and sound from this guitar belie its entry-level price and are an order of magnitude better than some entry-level instruments such as the First Act '222' and Fender acoustics sold at Target. Yamaha has impressed me (which is why I'm purchasing a Yamaha-brand keyboard for the kids this Christmas). Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: I've been playingguitar for almost 5 years now, and the first hurdle has always been among the toughestۡno matter how earnest the interest, no student can play the guitar if she or he has no guitar to play. For decades I was hard-pressed to find a sure-fire direction in which to point students searching for their first guitar.
On the one hand, you don't want to spend a great deal of money on an instrument that you might lose interest in playing within a couple of months. On the other hand, you don't want to get an instrument that's so poorly made you have no interest in playing it in the first place. (And, believe me, there are a lot of instruments like that out there.) So I often spent a lot of time shopping around in newspapers and pawnshops trying to find my new students something to play. Then, after locating a guitar, I worried over the little necessary extras. If you want to stand up and play, you have to have a strap.
You also need some kind of a bag to keep the guitar from getting scratched up when you're moving it around or dusty when you're storing it. You need picks to strum with and an extra set of strings around in case you break one. Also, an electronic tuner saves a lot of headaches for beginners.
So, by the end, you're looking at a sizable chunk of change just for the add-ons. Yamaha to the rescue My first classical guitar was a Yamaha. Like the GigMaker guitars, it was very well made, easy to play, and sweet sounding.
Also, like the GigMakers, it was very affordable. Since then I've played dozens of Yamahas and have always been impressed with their craftsmanship, tone, and low prices. So I was overjoyed to find the GigMaker guitar packs. Here in one neat package is everything my students need to get startedۡstrap, strings, picks, tuner, gig bag, basic instructional DVD, and a guitar of reliable qualityۡall for one low price. Click to Enlarge Standard of excellence The F325 guitar that forms the core of the GigMaker Standard guitar pack is very friendly to the ears, eyes, and fingers alike.
It sports higher-end features like die-cast tuners and a tortoiseshell pickguard that impart a really nice visual vibe. The distance of the strings from the neck is low for ease-of-play without being so low the frets buzz. The F325's laminated spruce top sounds great, with excellent bracing work. A laminated top is more affordable than a solid top and less liable to warp or crack. So if you're planning to play in extreme environments like beach or desert, laminated is the way to go. The rosewood fretboard is dressed very nicely and the meranti back and sides are well joined and attractively finished.
A solid joy The FD01S guitar in the GigMaker Deluxe pack has a gorgeous solid spruce top, accented by a durable black pickguard, and stays in rock-solid tune via its smooth covered tuners. That solid top will continue to sound sweeter as it ages, which makes the GigMaker Deluxe a great investment. I am simply amazed at the attention to detail evident in the construction of this guitar. No extra glue or rough edges are visible inside the guitar and every joint is flawless.
Halloween Games For Children. The frets on the rosewood fretboard are dressed beautifully and the action (string height) is perfect. The back and sides are made of beautifully finished, glowing nato wood. The sound compares favorably with much more expensive models I've played. Click to Enlarge All the goodies The strap included in the GigMaker packs is nylon with leather ends. It won't stretch or scratch your guitar, and it even has a handy little pick pouch sewn in. The picks are light gauge, which are easier for beginners to strum with.
The strings on the guitars and the extra included set are light gaugeۡ easy on the fingers. The water-resistant gig bag adequately protects against scratches and abrasions. The Qwik Tune digital chromatic tuner features an electronic pitch pipe that sounds the note of the string you specify.
This lets you get your guitar close to the right tuning before you use the actual tuner function to get it perfect. Ever since electronic tuners came out I've recommended them for my students. I hate to see the motivation to play squashed by a frustrating tuning episode.
Finally, the included DVD gives you the lowdown on the parts of the guitar plus how to hold the guitar and pick, tune up, change strings, and play common chords and strums. In all, the GigMaker guitar packs are the best value I've encountered for beginning guitarists and for long-time players just looking for a guitar to travel with or keep at the cabin or in the office. Yamaha instruments are of consistently high quality and these come with a well-chosen array of vital extras. Comments about Yamaha GigMaker Acoustic Guitar Pack: Guitar sounds this good, unbelievable, it's bunk! My cousin bought a Washburn for around $300 and this Yamaha F325 blows that out of the water.
I had a Martin D15 and this guitar is just about as nice to play. I bought this guitar because I didn't want my kids to bust it up and I am very surprised as how well it sounds and plays.
Turner is weird to use, the case isn't great, but who cares. Buy a hard case. You cannot beat this deal. I bet the solid top sounds even better.
