That needed to be replaced, I asked about the pickup sensor for the front roller he said that just gives speed and distance- ok but if its bad will it cause the machine to stop or increase and decrease in speed on its own which it did. Thank you for posting your question here on. It is likely the drive motor failing. You should disassemble the machine and test the incoming voltage to the motor and compare that to the motor's nameplate voltage rating. They are usually 90 VDC. Assuming the voltage is somewhere between 85 and 95 volts look at the motor.
If not, work back into the controls looking for the voltage issue. As a DC powered motor fails you will get irregular speed control and erratic operation in general. As it finally fails all-together it will run slowly if at all with frequent stops if it does turn at all. The brushes that ride on the commutator and the commutator itself are worn out.
Brushes have a finite life as they wear down. Hopefully you did not run the unit too long with the brushes worn out. Doing so leads to the shunt wire eventually shorting against the comm and that severely damages it.
A local electric motor shop can test the comm and replace the brushes or you can just order the brushes and attempt to repair the comm yourself. Crack Left For Dead 2 Skidrow Game. If you are not familiar with repairing a DC motor it would be best left to the shop though. Dirt and dust build-up, especially between the belt and the deck of your treadmill can cause excessive belt-deck friction. This in turn, can damage your electronics and even your motor. You can check for excessive belt-deck friction by setting your treadmill around 4 MPH and walking on it. Press the stop button (or pull the emergency stop switch).
You should have to take a few steps before the belt stops - if it stops suddenly there is probably a high friction problem. Excessive belt-deck friction can also cause motor to stall or sound labored so again, keep your belt and deck free from dust and dirct and look out if this is a problem Posted on Jan 26, 2011.
